Beyond Katrina

In other news, last year - in the wake of Hurricane Katrina - I volunteered at the Bayou La Batre Community Center, in my native Alabama, where I experienced quite a lot. The poem I wrote about the experience, entitled "Shelter", was published in an anthology called Beyond Katrina. The book is a wonderful collection of words and art by those impacted by the storm. The Arts Council of Central Louisiana published the book and has just notified me that they have produced an exhibit that will travel the country displaying selections from the book, enlarged and framed. I have the honor of having my poem be one of ten included in this exhibit.
The Arts Council is selling the book on their website, with ALL proceeds going to victims of the hurricane. It is a very professionally designed and printed volume that I am grateful to have my work be a part of, and I implore anyone looking for good read - and to donate to a good cause - to please follow the link to the right and purchase a copy.
Coming up on another hurricane season, I feel it is important for each of us to remember those who survived last year's disasters, and Beyond Katrina is a great way to do that.
Thanks for listening!

Well look at you.....congratulations. Thats an accomplishment right there. I bet they didn't just choose something to put in the book so it must have been an awesome poem. Keep up the good work.
